Guided campervan tours in Slovenia
Vantrip Experiences
Slovenia is a small country. You can drive from one end to the other in three hours. But small does not mean simple, and it definitely does not mean you will find the best of it on your own.
Vantrip Adventures — or Vantures — are small-group guided campervan tours through Slovenia, led by local experts who know these roads, valleys, and hidden stops the way no travel guide ever could. Not a convoy with a flag. A group of up to five campervans, moving at a considered pace through parts of the country most visitors never reach.
Why a guided tour, not just a campervan rental?
When you rent a campervan, you get the vehicle and the keys. Where you sleep, what you see and whether you accidentally miss the most spectacular viewpoint in the Julian Alps — that part is entirely up to you. For many travellers, that is exactly what they want.
But some want more from the road. Local knowledge you cannot find on Google. A stop at a mountain farm that is not on any list. Someone who can tell you why the rock face above the Soča river is that particular shade of green, and what happened there during World War I.
Vantures were created for that kind of traveller. Less time behind the wheel, more time discovering. Fewer tourist hotspots, more genuine connections with the landscape and the people who live in it.
There is also a principle behind every Vanture: responsible campervanning. Slovenia has clear rules about where you can and cannot park overnight. Our guides know them and will make sure your trip leaves no trace that should not be left.

Vanture 1: Julian Alps & Soča Valley
Guide: Aleš Zdešar

From the rolling green hills of the Škofja Loka region to the sheer walls of the Julian Alps. This tour takes in scenic mountain passes — including the famous Vršič — Alpine valleys, lakes, forests and waterfalls. It touches some of Slovenia’s most celebrated landscapes, while revealing paths and viewpoints that most visitors drive straight past.
4-day route:
- From Ljubljana across the Škofja Loka hills to Jamnik — the “balcony of Gorenjska”
- Soriška Planina and the first traces of the Isonzo Front
- Bohinj lake, the Pokljuka plateau and the Radovna valley
- Over the Vršič pass into the Trenta valley
- Kobarid and the Isonzo Front museum
- Most na Soči — mountain train — Bled — Ljubljana
The 7-day extension crosses into Italy to visit villages where Slovenian is still spoken (Resia, Cividale), then returns via the Banščice plateau and the high road above the Vipava valley.
Vanture 2: Southern & Eastern Slovenia
Guide: Nejc Trpin

The Slovenia most visitors never see. Karst plains, Dinaric plateaux, the Notranjska Snežnik massif and the untouched upper reaches of the Kolpa river. Wildlife watching — including bears in their natural habitat. The quietly re-emerging town of Kočevje. The mysterious Kočevski Rog forest and the gentle wine-growing hills of Dolenjska.
4-day route:
- Planinsko polje — Trnje — the Pivka lakes
- Notranjska Snežnik — Volovja Reber — Snežnik Castle — Lake Cerknica
- Rakov Škocjan — Loški potok — brown bear safari
- Kolpa valley — Osilnica — Kočevski Rog — Baza 20 — Dolenjske Toplice
The 7-day extension continues east through the castles of eastern Slovenia, the Kozjansko region and the Pohorje hills, returning through central Slovenia.
Vanture 3: Koroška & the Logarska Valley
Guide: Urša Drofenik

A slower tour through alpine valleys, scenic roads and quietly beautiful corners of Slovenia. Designed for travellers who want to stop often — for views, photography, local food and short walks. A balance between Slovenia’s most recognisable landscapes and the lesser-visited spots where the pace drops and the surroundings do the talking.
4-day route:
- Jezersko and the views towards the Kamnik–Savinja Alps
- Koroška — Mežica and a descent into the old lead and zinc mine
- The Solčava Panoramic Road — Logarska valley
The 7-day extension includes Kope mountain resort and, on the return to Ljubljana, the Kamniška Bistrica valley and Velika Planina.

Getting here & getting started
All Vantures start and end at our base in Brezovica, just outside Ljubljana — 25 minutes from Ljubljana Jože Pučnik International Airport (LJU). You can pick up your campervan on the day the tour begins, or arrive a day or two earlier and explore the city at your own pace before the group sets off.
At the end of the tour, you return to the same location. If you want to continue travelling independently after the tour, that is easy to arrange. Your campervan rental can be extended beyond the tour itself, giving you extra days to explore Slovenia or the wider region on your own terms.
Campervan rental and the Vanture are booked separately. The tour covers the guided experience — the route, the guide, and the local knowledge. The campervan is rented directly through Vantrip and can be tailored to your group size and travel plans.
